Pool Rules

Outdoor Pool Area Information and Guidelines

  • No one is permitted in the pool area unless a J staff member and lifeguard are on duty.
  • All children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • Children who require any type of flotation device must be accompanied by an adult in the water and be within reaching distance.
  • Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
  • Obey the Lifeguard at all times.
  • Admission to the facility shall be refused to all persons having any contagious disease, or to those with conditions that appear contagious.
  • A person under the influence or exhibiting erratic behavior may be asked to leave the facility.
  • All swimmers must wear swimming attire.
  • Running, rough play and dangerous behavior will not be permitted.
  • Underwater surfing; throwing of children; diving, standing or jumping onto flotation devices, standing or sitting on top of someone’s shoulders will not be permitted.
  • For recreational swim, small (or infant) flotation devices, masks, fins, balls and rafts are permitted in the water at the supervising guard’s discretion. Coast Guard approved PFD’s are permitted.
  • Remember to apply sunscreen frequently.

NO:

  • Outside Food in the Pool Area
  • Diving
  • Running
  • Large Rafts
  • Playing on pool ladders
  • Alcoholic Beverages
  • Glass
  • Smoking

Diving Well Rules

  • All patrons using the diving well must be able to swim at least 15 yards on their own.
  • Flotation devices such as floaties, lifejackets and noodles are prohibited.
  • The Diving Well will close at designated times for programming.

 Diving Board Rules

  • Weight Limit: 250lbs.
  • Diving may be performed from the diving boards only.
  • Dives or jumps must be performed forward, off the front of the board, towards the middle of the pool.
  • Once a dive is performed, the diver must immediately exit the pool via the nearest ladder.
  • Only one person may be on the board at a time. The next person in line must wait on the deck, not on the steps or on the ladder.

NO:

  • Flips or competition dives
  • Running on the board.
  • Jumping off the board backwards.
  • Double bouncing.
  • Throwing objects to someone jumping off of the board.
  • Parents in the water waiting to catch their child.

Baby Pool Rules

  • The Baby Pool is designated for children ages 6 and under.
  • Deck chairs are not permitted in the pool.
  • Please remain vigilant and within an arms-reach of non-swimming children.
  • Use indoor or outdoor locker rooms for restrooms and changing of children.
  • No running in the pool or pool area.
  • Entry gates closed are to remain closed when not in use.

Lap Pool Rules

  • The Lap Pool is for lap swimming and programming only. Please use Family Pool for Family Swim.
  • Lane sharing is mandatory when all lanes are full. Up to 4 swimmers are expected to share a lap lane and swim in a circular pattern.
  • Swimmers are not permitted to hang on the lane lines.
  • Kick boards and pull buoys are for lap swimmers only.
  • Those who walk in the water will be accommodated in lanes 8 & 9.
  • Family swim will be designated in lanes 8 & 9 when possible.

Whirlpool Rules

  • Members must wear proper swimwear attire.
  • Enter and exit slowly.
  • Shaving and spitting are not permitted.
  • Do not use spa areas under the influence of alcohol, tranquilizers or other drugs that cause drowsiness or that raise blood pressure.
  • Pregnant woman, elderly people and people with heart conditions, high blood pressure or diabetes should consult their physician prior to using the spa.
  • Observe reasonable time limits. (10-15 minutes)
  • No glass is allowed.
  • Must be 18 years old to use the whirlpool.
  • According to state code 902DAR10:120 a hot soapy shower is required before entering the pool and whirlpool.
  • Do not use water temperatures greater than 104°F.

Indoor Pool Area Information and Guidelines

  • Obey the lifeguard at all times.
  • Open to Trager Family JCC members and guests of members only.
  • Admission to the facility shall be refused to all persons having any contagious disease, or to those with conditions that appear contagious.
  • A person under the influence or exhibiting erratic behavior may be asked to leave the facility.
  • All swimmers must wear swimming attire.
  • All children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
  • All children who require any type of flotation device must be accompanied by an adult in the water and be within reaching distance.
  • Parents are responsible for their children at all times.
  • Children who are not toilet trained must wear a “swim diaper” to enter any pool.
  • Underwater surfing, throwing of children, diving, standing or sitting on someone’s shoulders will not be permitted.
  • Walking on or jumping off the dividing walls of the pool will not be permitted.
  • For recreational swim, masks, fins, balls and rafts are permitted in the pool at the supervising guard’s discretion.
  • No underwater laps or breath-holding competitions will be permitted.
  • According to state code 902dar10:120 a hot soapy shower is required before entering the pool and whirlpool.
  • Use family changing rooms for the changing of children.
  • The aquatic staff may ask those who do not adhere to the rules to leave the facility.

Splash Pad Rules

  • Deck chairs are not permitted in the pool.
  • Please remain vigilant and within an arms reach of non-swimming children.
  • No running in the pool or pool area.
  • No rafts in the splash pad area.

Slide Rules

  • Slide attendant is required for use.
  • You must be at least 4’ tall to use slide.
  • Do not use the slide if you weigh more than 250 lbs.
  • All patrons must be able to independently swim to be able to use the water slide. Parents are not allowed to catch children at the bottom of the slide.
  • Only one person is allowed to slide at a time. All other patrons must wait at the bottom of the slide.
  • You must immediately exit the slide well after descending
  • You may not go down the slide until the slide well is clear and the slide attendant gives you the all-clear.
  • People with a history of back problems, heart conditions or fear of heights should not use the slide.
  • No goggles are permitted on the water slide.
  • All patrons must go down the slide feet first.

General Pool Rules

  • Only members are allowed in the pool area unless passes are purchased for guests. Considerate behavior and decorum are expected at all times. When a member or guest becomes unruly, the Aquatics staff has the right to ask that person to leave.
  • All apparel worn into the facility shall be clean. All bathers must wear swimming attire. Inappropriate apparel will not be permitted in the pool area (No cut-offs, tennis shorts, etc.
  • To enter the pool area, a responsible adult must accompany children in the 5th grade and under, and that adult is responsible for the child at all times. If the child is a non-swimmer, requiring any type of flotation device, the accompanying adult must go into the water with the child.
  • No diving.
  • Children who are not toilet trained must wear a “swim diaper” to enter any pool.
  • No one is allowed in the pool or the pool area unless a lifeguard is on duty.
  • Glass or other breakable containers and sharp objects are not permitted anywhere in or near the pool area
  • No food, drink, tobacco or chewing gum is permitted in pool area.
  • No animals allowed in the pool area.
  • No running or rough play allowed. Dangerous behavior will not be permitted.
  • No squirt guns, underwater torpedoes (toypedo), or large rafts are allowed. No throwing items in the pool area.
  • Admission to the facility shall be refused to all persons having any contagious disease or to those with conditions that appear contagious.
  • Persons with excessive sunburn, abrasions which have not healed, corn plasters, bunion pads, adhesive tape, rubber bandages or other bandages of any kind are not permitted.
  • A person under the influence of alcohol or exhibiting erratic behavior will not be permitted in the facility area.
  • For your sanitary safety the JCC requires its members to wear proper swim attire in the saunas, whirlpool & steam room.
  • No street shoes in spa area or on the pool deck.
  • Wet areas close 15 minutes prior to the Center’s closing time.
  • Shaving is not permitted in the whirlpool, sauna and steam room.
  • According to Kentucky State Code 902DAR10:120 – A hot soap shower is required before entering the pool and whirlpool.

Lap Pool

      • Monday-Friday: 12 – 6 p.m.
      • Saturday & Sunday: 12 – 5:45 p.m.
LAP POOL RESERVATIONS
  • Members MUST reserve a lane to swim. Click below to reserve online or call the Health & Wellness desk at 502-238-2727 to reserve a lane.
  • Reservations are available within 48 hours of the time you want to swim.
  • Please enter your first and last name, and your email address when reserving online.
  • You should receive an email at the email address provided when reserving a lane.
  • If you need to cancel your time, please log back in that time you reserved and click cancel. You can also call the health & wellness desk to cancel.
  • Please limit to one reservation daily, as lanes are filling quickly.
LAP POOL GUIDELINES
  • Must be a member to swim laps.
  • Must be at least 10 years old to enter the facility.
  • ALL lap lanes are currently open for swimming.
  • Members can scan in at the outdoor locker room for entry to the lap pool only during certain hours. 
    • You must use the outdoor locker room when the family pool is closed.
    • You must scan in at the main pool gate when the family pool is open.
  • The outdoor locker room will serve as an access way to the lap pool only. It will not serve as a changing area.
  • Members may change in the family changing bathroom, located in the locker room. For additional changing locations, ask the aquatics staff and they will be happy to assist.
  • Please arrive on deck no more than five minutes prior to your reserved swim time.
  • Please check in with Aquatics Staff upon arrival.
  • Those in odd-numbered lanes MUST enter, rest and exit the pool in the shallow end.
  • Those in even-numbered lanes MUST enter, rest and exit the pool in the deep end (5 ft.). You may use the ladder for entry/exit.
  • Members MUST wear a mask when entering and exiting the facility.
  • Please exit the pool on time and pool area promptly after your swim.
  • Air temperature MUST be 60 degrees for the pool to open.
  • If we hear thunder or see lightning, the pool will close until 30 minutes after the last thunder is heard or lightning is seen.

Security at the JCC Pools

Members using the fitness facility will continue to use the main doors to enter and exit the building.
Before 9:30 a.m., enter the pool complex for lap swim only through the Outdoor Locker Room.
After 9:30 a.m., enter the pool by scanning in at the Pool Gate.
The door to the building by the racquetball courts will remain locked. To enter the building from the pool, please use the Indoor Pool Door located to the left of the racquetball hallway.
Exit the JCC through the Main Doors, exit the pool through the Outdoor Locker Room or Pool Gate.

The JCC is open and accessible to everyone, regardless of age, race, religion, national origin or special need.
