Youth Enrichment Classes

The Trager Family JCC Youth Enrichment program provides regularly scheduled, structured, and supervised activities for children outside of the regular school day.

Our enrichment classes promote positive youth development and offer a variety of learning opportunities, including development in gross motor skills, fine motor skills, musicianship skills, recreation, and social situations.

Course Details

  • Open to JCC members & non-members
  • Ages 3-5 or Grades K-5, depending on the class
  • Various days of the week from 3:30-6 p.m.
  • Multiple Session Opportunities
    • Fall Session: September – December
    • Spring Semester: February – April

This programming is registration-based. Different classes may have different costs due to variables such as course materials, canceled class dates due to holidays, etc. Please click the registration link at the bottom of the page for complete course offerings, as they may change based on enrollment.

Is transportation available?

Depending on availability, we may be able to offer transportation from select schools for an additional fee. Available schools are: Bloom, St. Matthews, Brown, Holy Trinity, Hawthorne, and Field. If you are in need of transportation to the enrichment class, please email Waylon.

Fall Course Offerings

Mondays

For pre-K children (ages 3-5)

An educational sports program that empowers children through sports to develop personal confidence and inspire active futures.

Time: 3:50-4:20 p.m.

For school-aged children

Cooking meets stories, creativity, and hands-on fun in this PJ Library-inspired cooking club! Kids will make simple treats, explore food-themed activities, and build confidence in the kitchen — no chef hat required.
 
Time: 5 – 6 p.m.

Tuesdays

For school-aged children
Instructor: Spencer Disselkamp
 
Enter the world of Pokemon with our Trading Card Game (TCG) Club! Students will learn the basics of the card game, how to build teams, and strategies for effective gameplay.
 
Time: 5-6 p.m.

Wednesdays

For pre-K children (ages 3-5)
Instructor: TBD

Children will learn creative movement and explore different movement styles. Clothes that are easy to move in, such as leggings, sweatpants, a fitted shirt, and socks, are required. Some may choose to wear a leotard, tights, and dance shoes; that is okay too. Everyone is included, and all are welcome!

For school-aged children
Instructor: Waylon Riley
 
Over the course of the semester, students will learn how to spin fiber into yarn and then knit/crochet/weave that yarn into a finished project. Students will have the freedom to focus on specific skills that they are passionate about, and they will have a handmade project to bring home at the end!

Thursdays

Unleash your creativity with our Arts & Crafts program, where students explore their self-expression through a different craft each week.

Time: 3:50-4:20 p.m.

Participants will learn strategy and teamwork through board games, card games, role-playing, and online challenges in our Tabletop Games Club! Members build critical thinking and social skills while enjoying engaging, imaginative experiences with others who share a passion for tabletop games.

Fridays

Children will venture into the amazing world of science through experiments, sensory play, and STEM activities!
