This year’s Cari Kleinman Essay contest asked each participant to write a letter for a time capsule that would be opened in 100 years by young Jewish students. The contest organizers are happy to announce that three participants were each awarded a $100.00 U.S. savings bond provided by the Cari Kleinman Memorial Fund. The awards were presented at an assembly for the Louisville Beit Seifer Yachad Religious School (L.B.S.Y.) on Sunday, December 11, at Keneseth Israel Synagogue.
This year’s recipients all attend L.B.S.Y. They are fifth graders Lucy Calderon and Emily Callam, and fourth grader Jillian Lustig.
The Cari Kleinman Memorial Fund is an ongoing fund held at Adath Jeshurun Synagogue in memory of Cari Eilene Kleinman, a fourth grader who passed away in August, 1990.
