BBYO Teen Awards

Apply for a BBYO Teen Award!


Applications and Essays are due by May 17, 2024.
Essays should be between 200-500 words.

Awards will be presented at the Jewish Community Annual Meeting on June 27, 2024.

Award Descriptions and Requirements


Tony Levitan Award

The Tony Levitan Award goes to an outstanding high school senior who was an athlete while in high school and demonstrated outstanding character and leadership throughout his participation in team sports and Jewish communal events. The recipient will receive up to $600.

Requirements: Applicants should be in 12th grade. Please submit an essay, one page or less in length, about your qualifications and your experience as an athlete in high school, and how that has shaped your identity heading into college.

Stacy Marks Nisenbaum Award

The Stacy Marks Nisenbaum Award is presented to an incoming junior or senior in high school who is a leader in his/her BBYO chapter, working to strengthen and grow the BBYO program. The recipient is also active in his/her school and in the community-at-large. The recipient will receive $250 towards a convention.

Requirements:  Applicants should not have won this award previously and must be committed to using the award money for a BBYO-sponsored convention or leadership conference.  Please submit an essay, one page or less in length, about your qualifications and your work with BBYO and the community.

Joseph Fink BBYO Community Service Scholarship

The Joseph Fink BBYO Community Service Scholarship is a four-year scholarship presented to a senior who was an active member of their BBYO chapter during all four years of high school and also performed a significant amount of community service during high school. The recipient is also active in his/her school and in the community-at-large. The recipient will receive this scholarship for four years as long as they stay in school. This awardee will receive up to $300 per year over 4 years, up to $1200.

Requirements: Applicants should be in 12th grade.  Please submit an essay, one page or less in length, about your qualifications and your work with BBYO and details about the community service you performed while in high school.

Ellen Faye Garmon Award

The Ellen Faye Garmon Award is awarded to an incoming junior or senior in high school who is involved in their BBYO chapter and community, working to strengthen and grow the BBYO program. The recipient will receive $200 towards a convention.

Requirements:  Applicants should not have won this award previously and be committed to using the award money for a BBYO-sponsored convention or leadership conference. Please submit an essay, one page or less, about your qualifications and your work with BBYO and the community.
