Teen Topics: BBYO

[by Maggie Rosen and Daniel Pollio]

This month was very busy for BBYO [B’nai B’rith Youth Organization]. On September 28, Jay Levine BBG [B’nai B’rith Girls] held its first ever Sukkot program! We became more educated about the holiday, built our own candy Sukkah, and created Sukkot decorations to donate to a local Jewish retirement home.

On October 6, Drew Corson AZA [Aleph Zadik Aleph]  hosted a very successful but sleepless lock-in at the JCC.

Both Drew Corson AZA and Jay Levine BBG are hard at work preparing for Spirit Convention, which takes place at Camp Campbell Gard near Cincinnati, OH, October 26-29.

Louisville BBYO also participates in BBYO’s Stand-Up program, which allows the BBYO members to raise awareness and money for different causes. Our September cause was hunger, so Jay Levine raised funds and gathered food cans to donate to the JFCS Food Pantry. Our Stand-Up cause for October is Breast Cancer. On Saturday, October 13, Louisville BBYO participated in the Race for a Cure, in order to do something hands-on for this month’s Stand-Up cause.
