Wise-Aging Group Sessions hosted at Adath Jeshurun
October 8, 2017 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
“We’re all getting older. How we face aging – that’s what we’re thinking about. How do we take on this stage of our lives with wisdom and spirit? How do we move past what doesn’t fit anymore and welcome what does?”
Congregation Adath Jeshurun, Temple Shalom and Jewish Family and Career Services, with financial support from the Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence, are partnering to offer Wise Aging peer groups, inspired by the Institute for Jewish Spirituality. Each group will meet regularly over a period of months to talk and learn, share and explore together what it means to grow older with intention and to live life fully in the process. The work is based on groups led by Rabbi Rachel Cowan and Dr. Linda Thal and we will use their book, Wise Aging: Living with Joy, Resilience, and Spirit. Together using the text, mindfulness meditation, cultivation of spiritual qualities, gentle movement and mindful listening, we will develop our ability to look toward the future with our own resilience, meaning and joy.
These sessions will be led by Rabbi Laura Metzger and Rabbi Beth Jacowitz Chottiner and will be held at Adath Jeshurun, 2401 Woodbourne Avenue, Louisville, KY 40205. Additional session dates are as follows: 11/5, 11/12, 12/3, 12/17/17, 1/14/18, 1/28, 2/11 & 2/25/18.
