Repro Shabbat – ACLU Heather Gatnarek
February 17 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Repro Shabbat falls on the Shabbat when Jews read Mishpatim, the Torah portion with the verses that form the basis of the Jewish approach to reproductive freedom. Repro Shabbat is an opportunity created by NCJW for congregations, organizations, and communities to celebrate the critical importance of reproductive health access, reproductive rights, and reproductive justice, and to learn more about Judaism’s approach to these issues. This year, The Temple will be having several events to support and learn about reproductive rights in Kentucky. Join us on Friday, February 17 during Friday Night Services at 7 p.m. as we invite special guest speaker, Heather Gatnarek, Staff Attorney for the ACLU of Kentucky who is representing EMW Women’s Surgical Center and along with Planned Parenthood in their state lawsuit challenging two extreme abortion bans. Additionally, join us on Saturday, February 18 during Shabbat Morning Services at 10:30 a.m. as we invite special guest speaker, Aaron Kemper, one of the lawyers in a case seeking to block Kentucky’s abortion restrictions based on the Jewish faith and Kentucky’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act.
