JOB SKILLS/REQUIREMENTS
- Summer availability (May 30 – August 2, 2024)
- Full-time and part time available
- Monday – Friday 8:15am – 4:15pm (some availability at 8:00am and until 5:30pm).
- Enjoy working with children ages 5-15, incredibly patient, energetic, and active!
Physical Requirements:
- Stand for up to 45 minutes at a time.
- Stand/swim in up to 4 feet of water to supervise campers.
- Supervise campers in a hot environment – up to 99-degree heat index

SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR
As a camp counselor, you get to be a positive influence on the lives of campers while developing leadership skills and having fun. You must be a minimum of 16 years of age to apply. Counselors assist in the direction, supervision, and organization of campers in their camper group, within specialist activities, and throughout other aspects of camp in order to meet the intended camper outcomes. These activities include sports, arts, music, science, nature, aquatics, and more.
INCLUSION COUNSELOR (ADVOCATE)
Advocates will get to work with campers diagnosed with physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities within their camp groups. Advocates work with campers to encourage group participation, involvement, friendships, social interactions and assist with gross and fine motor activities as needed. Advocates will be supervised by the Camp Leadership Team and the Mental Health and Inclusion Coordinator. High school diploma required.
SUPERVISOR
Camp J supervisors provide direct supervision of camp counselors throughout the camp day. As a supervisor, you would be directly responsible for the health, welfare and happiness of each camper and staff person in your unit(s). Supervisors must be comfortable instructing, guiding, correcting, and finding ways to motivate staff. They must demonstrate patience and sensitivity regardless of circumstance, to the various campers within their unit(s). Must understand appropriate behavior management techniques; knowledge of several activity skill areas; and communicate effectively with campers, staff, and families in urgent or emergency situations. High school diploma required, some college preferred, experience working with children required, supervisory experience encouraged.
ACTIVITY SPECIALISTS
Camp J has a variety of activity areas, led by specialists, for camp groups to participate in. Areas may include visual arts, music, science, drama, nature, dance, sports, games, Israeli culture. Activity specialists develop activity plans for camp groups of 10-15 campers in grades K-8th. Specialists lead approximately 5-6 activities in a given day. High school diploma required, prior experience leading activities, coaching, or with classroom management is preferred.
