KEFF LATE NIGHTS AND OVERNIGHTS FOR SPECIALTY CAMPERS
On June 15, June 29, July 13, July 27 and August 10, KEFF campers will take field trips and then return to camp for swimming and a pizza party. Pick-up will be at 6 p.m. There will be an optional overnight for campers entering 1st through 3rd grade on those nights. Specialty campers may add-on the overnight, when available, for $30 Members, $35 Summer Members, $40 Public.

JUNE

Bat League Heroes and Villains Camp – Bricks 4 kidz

Grades 4-6      June 5-9      Tier B

Enter the dark city where a dangerous jokester and other evil villains wreak havoc. Thankfully there is a bat hero who comes out each night to fight against these evildoers! The good guys will ride into action as campers build motorized LEGO® brick models of the bat hero’s speedy vehicle and bat girls’ sleek Cycle. But keep the bat light searching for the evil jokester’s motorized low-rider vehicle cruising through the city streets.

soccer cosmic cup – 4 kicks for kidz

Grades 1-3      June 5-9   Tier A

Join the second annual soccer Cosmic Cup at The J! Our week long soccer camp will culminate in a friendly tournament on Friday morning.  We will create four teams, mixing players up so that each team has a similar skill level. The team that has the highest score at the end of the Friday morning session will receive the Cosmic Cup. All players will receive a participation medal. Families are invited to the Friday morning tournament session and to the award ceremony and, of course, to stay for lunch. The cosmic cup and the team pictures will be showcased at The J all year around. Our daily training will focus on the following: mobility (gross motor skills development and developmental movement patterns, such as squatting, hopping, running and  homo-lateral and contra-lateral crawling); stability (balance exercises on the ground and on the soccer ball to trigger core support in the torso); Foot skills (stopping and trapping a moving ball, kicking with instep to a fixed and moving target, basic dribbling and aiming at a moving target, dribbling and team-building with a focus on analysis of a problem, creative solutions, and socio-emotional development.

Wild west cooking

Grades 1-3      June 5-9      Tier B

Cooking camp campers are transported to and from the Standard Club for programming. The will swim daily at The J.
Well Howdy Partners!! Enjoy a sarsaparilla float while we make campfire cupcakes. We’ll also lasso up some flapjacks, haystacks and cow patties!

Come spend the week with us exploring many forms of art, as we study the element and principles of art. We will draw, paint, glue, form clay, sculpt and weave. Our week will also include a trip to a local art museum to explore art in our city. The week will be completed with an art show to display our beautiful creations from the week.

Backstage Magic!

Instructors: Spotlight Musical Theatre Professionals
Imaginations will run wild as we draw back the curtain unveiling the secrets and magic of technical theatre.  From scenery to lighting, sewing to painting, costuming to crafting: through a multitude of hands on activities and projects as well as workshops with professional artists and theatre technicians, each day will be spent learning basic theatrical design and technical skills including creating your own scenic and costume design.   Some activities will include model building, mask making, scene painting, basic sewing and rendering. Campers will swim everyday.

Jurassic Brick Land – Bricks 4 kidz

Grades 1-4      June 12-16      Tier B

Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime? Put on your hiking boots and camouflage. You’re about to enter Jurassic Brick Land! Campers will build a world that comes to life with a gentle Brontosaurus, ferocious Velociraptor, terrifying T. Rex and more. We’ll learn about amazing dinosaurs that lived during the Jurassic period, and other extinct, prehistoric animals that roamed the earth and swam the seas during that era and millions of years later. Show us your building skills using our specialized project kits. Come learn, build and play at Jurassic Brick Land camp.

Calling all Dinosaur hunters! Come roar with the dinosaurs. You will dig making fossil cookies and dinosaur bones. Each day will be a roaring good time!

Instructor Nathan Fouts
Learners will have hands-on experience using game-building software (Construct 2) to build a game with the class, and then a game on their own. Computer programming experience not required.
Bring USB memory stick (used to take work home if desired).
Instructor Nathan Fouts is a designer and programmer in the video game industry, working for over 15 years on PS3, Xbox 360, mobile and PC games.

mining and crafting – Bricks 4 kidz

Grades 1-4      June 19-23      Tier B

Experience the world of Minecraft with LEGO® bricks, a game about placing blocks to build anything you can imagine. Campers will start by crafting their shelters to keep out monsters and some of the mobs, critters and tools. Students will face new challenges each day, building motorized Bricks 4 Kidz models and crafting key elements (with LEGO® bricks) from the Minecraft game.

Grades K-1      June 19-23      Tier B

Our rookie rugby camp is non-contact. Practice and play a form of flag rugby. A fun, safe, team game that develops a range of ball handling, running and evasion skills. Respect for teammates, opponents, coaches and referees is emphasized. Each player will receive a rugby ball, T-shirt and written evaluation from the Challenger coach outlining areas which the player can develop to improve their game.

RUGBY

Grades 2-6      June 19-23      Tier B

Our rookie rugby camp is non-contact. Practice and play a form of flag rugby. A fun, safe, team game that develops a range of ball handling, running and evasion skills. Respect for teammates, opponents, coaches and referees is emphasized. Each player will receive a rugby ball, T-shirt and written evaluation from the Challenger coach outlining areas which the player can develop to improve their game.

All cooking campers will be transported to and from Standard Club for programming. Campers swim daily at The J. Travel with us to the land of milk, honey and sunshine. Each day we will prepare a traditional Egyptian dish!

Spotlight youth musical theatre camp

Each two-week youth musical theatre camp provides young performers the opportunity to discover, train and develop their talents in a safe nurturing and noncompetitive environment. Working closely with music theatre professionals, children will not only learn skills needed to perform in a musical but will also gain confidence, improve self-esteem, increase imagination, practice teamwork and build lifelong friendships all while having the time of their lives! Campers will swim everyday.

Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark KIDS
Grades 1-3      June 19-30      Tier C

Magic Tree House: Dinosaurs Before Dark KIDS is a FUN musical adaptation of the first of Mary Pope Osborne’s award-winning fantasy adventure books.  Jack and Annie’s magic tree house transports them back in time to the age of the dinosaurs, where the siblings courageously learn that things are not always what they seem.

A Pirates Quest Camp – Bricks 4 kidz

Grades 2-5      June 26-30      Tier B

Shiver me timbers as we explore the popular culture behind the life of a pirate. Using LEGO® bricks, build a motorized pirate ship, a helm and an anchor, we batten down the hatches and prepare for mutiny. Protect the hands on deck by building a launching catapult. Beware me mateys. If it’s too late, you must abandon ship and build a rowboat to escape. Watch out for crocodiles! Anchors aweigh!

Wiley Brown Basketball

Grades 1-3      June 26-30      Tier B

Learn the fundamental skills of basketball through ball handling, shooting, offensive and defensive drills. In addition, each camper will have an individual evaluation by the coaches to help understand what he or she can do to improve throughout the year. The week will culminate with a ceremony on Friday.

Golden age of piracy

Grades 1-3      June 26-30      Tier B

All cooking campers will be transported to and from Standard Club for programming. Campers swim daily at The J. Ahoy ye Mateys! No need to travel to the high seas to have mighty good time! So shiver yer timbers. We’ll make a treasure map pizza, fruity swords and much more!

pocket brick monsters – Bricks 4 kidz

Grades 2-5      July 3-7*      Tier B

Get ready for an adventure in the world of Pokémon®! Capture wild Pokémon® creatures and train them for battle. Improve your accuracy and power as you learn new moves and use special abilities. Tap into your inner engineer as we build Dratini, Pikachu, Poké Balls and more. Show off your skills as you battle for power in your journey through the Pokémon® universe. Just when you thought it was safe to donate your disco albums, we’re going to travel back through the decades! From walnut bread and fondue to some wacky jello desserts, this week we’ll touch base in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 20s!

When we say exploration, we mean atypical! Paint with food, sculpt with home-made ‘clay’, make puffy paint from shaving cream and art with a twist. The week will culminate with an art show on Friday.

secret agent advanced training

Grades 4-8      July 3-7*     Tier A

Every Agent needs: an ID card, passport, interrogation practice, skills to encrypt secret messages, the ability to be a master of disguise, target practice, the chance to beat the laser obstacle course and the opportunity to solve the ghostly case of The Haunted Amusement Park. The final mission is to solve The League of Good Guys Murder Mystery.

Groove and move your way through the summer during this fun and exciting week filled with the hottest dance moves to your favorite radio tunes. Explore the world of dance and music while learning various forms of dance. The camp will culminate in a dance performance.

Seussical, The Musical KIDS

Grades 3-6      July 3-14*     Tier C

Horton the Elephant, the Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz and all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters spring to life onstage and transport audiences from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGerkus in Seussical KIDS, a fantastical musical extravaganza from Tony-winners, Ahrens and Flaherty. Oh the Thinks you Can Think, as this high-energy, fun-filled musical teaches us the power of friendship, loyalty, family and community as Horton emerges triumphant!

Brick Critters camp – Bricks 4 kidz

Grades 2-5      July 10-14      Tier B

Ever wonder what your pets do while you are at school? Join Max, an adorable dog and Snowball, the rabbit, on this fun and furry adventure. In addition to imagining what pets do when left alone, build various critters with LEGO® bricks including motorized buzzing bees, fluttering butterflies and more. Then dive to the depths of the ocean with Dory to help her search for her family.

WILEY BROWN BASKETBALL

Grades 4-8      July 10-14      Tier B

The Renaissance age was a time of plentiful eating, lots of side dishes and tons of desserts. This week we will prepare some classic French food with a side of history.

Imagination Station

Grade K      July 17-21      Tier A 

All Aboard for Imagination Station where we celebrate the boundless imagination found in every child. Imagination that can turn a brown cardboard box into a world of possibilities. With songs, set in a variety of musical styles and easy to learn rhyming dialogue combined with creative movement, theatre games and a nurturing, safe environment, children will explore and discover all their imagination has to offer. This one-week camp is the perfect introduction to musical theatre and the dramatic process.

Think pink. Enjoy a week of exciting activities such as dance, art and drama. Fashion shows, selfies, manis, pedis and more. Each day will have a different activity. The week will culminate with a surprise field trip in a limousine.

Grades 2-5      July 24-28      Tier B

Gather your barbarians and archers!  It’s time for battle, Bricks 4 Kidz style! Collect and store gold and elixir to train troops and build villages. You must stop at nothing to defend your village from enemy attacks! Experience the thrill of battling barbarians, greedy goblins, powerful PEKKAs and wild wall breakers. There will be all this and more at Clash of Bricks camp!

We’ll have a royal good time!

Disney’s Peter Pan Jr.

Grades 4-8      July 24-August 4      Tier C

Fly away to Neverland with Peter and the Darling children in this musical adaptation based on the Disney film and J.M. Barrie’s enchanting play. Disney’s Peter Pan Jr. is a modern version of the timeless tale about a boy who wouldn’t grow up. Along the way, Peter introduces Wendy, Michael and John to the Lost Boys, Mermaids, Indians and even the infamous pirate Captain Hook! It’s Peter to the rescue in this magical, musical romp featuring new arrangements of classic Disney songs and a story featuring one rousing adventure after another.

super bots robotics – Bricks 4 kidz

Grades  4-6      July 31-August 4      Tier B

The hottest selling LEGO® Mindstorm combines classic LEGO® building with the world of robotics, using motors, sensors and software. You’ll learn how to design and program your LEGO® ‘bots to perform all kinds of tasks! This is for the advanced LEGO® enthusiast!

Back to the future cooking camp

All cooking campers will be transported to and from Standard Club for programming. Campers swim daily at The J. With a focus on molecular gastronomy and a things that go whiz, bang and pop, this week we will be making some dishes straight out of the future!

star galaxy wars camp – Bricks 4 kidz

Grades 1-4      August 7-11      Tier B

Join us on an adventurous journey throughout the galaxy far away! We will build cool LEGO® brick creations that will blast through the atmosphere and into a realm that is out of this world. Trust the force within you and building skills to create a dark side fighter, rebel fighter and much more. Come experience this stellar journey to a galaxy far away to conquer the dark world that waits!

Grades 4-6      August 7-11      Tier B

All cooking campers will be transported to and from Standard Club for programming. Campers swim daily at The J. We’ll have some far-out fun making Cake ‘Planet’ Pops, Meteoroid Munchies and out of this world, homemade Moon Pies! And that’s just the beginning of our outer space adventure!
