Snapology: Planes, Trains & Automobiles (Grades K-5)

week 1 | june 10 – 14

Tier A: $250 J Members, $280 Summer Members, $290 Non-Members
In Snapology’s new Planes, Trains, and Automobiles camp, children will explore the world of transportation while creating their own working models of childhood favorites. We will learn about and experiment with energy, power sources, momentum and more, while building cool new ways to move our LEGO® people around. If your child enjoys playing with anything that moves, they will love this camp! Every enrolled child will get to build and keep their own LEGO® mini-figure at the end of camp.

Snapology: Intro to Robotics (Grades K-2)

week 2 | june 17 – 21

Children will explore the world of robotics as they build and code moving, LEGO® based models. They will also learn to think critically about their surroundings and realize all the simple machines they use every day. Whether learning about sensors building drills and magic wands or discovering how gears create movement in helicopters and robotic dogs, your child is sure to have a great time! Every enrolled child will get to build and keep their own LEGO® mini-figure at the end of camp.

Snapology: Adventures in Star Wars (Grades K-5)

week 6 | july 15 – 19

If your child loves Star Wars®, this is the camp for them! Children will have a great time in this week filled with Star Wars® themed activities using LEGO® bricks and other interactive learning tools. We will explore concepts such as engineering strong spacecraft and structures while building scenes from the movies, favorite ships and lightsabers. May the force be with them! Every enrolled child will get to build and keep their own LEGO® mini-figure at the end of camp.

Snapology: Amusement Park Adventure (Grades 2-6)

week 8 | july 29 – august 2

Campers will design and build their own amusement park in this thrilling program! We will learn how to use LEGO® bricks, motors and other building materials to make our favorite coasters and other awesome rides. By the last day, each team will be ready to create their own unique ride, and then we’ll bring everything together – complete with food and game shops – and invite mom & dad to see the new park! Every enrolled child will get to build and keep their own LEGO® mini-figure at the end of camp.

To the Batcave fans! Comic books and movies bring together great stories and characters, and we will create both in this popular camp. Using LEGO® bricks, children will design their own superhero, create exciting adventures, and build cool new superhero sets. Your kiddos will have a blast creating their own fantasy world of superheroes! What kind of super powers will they discover? Crusin’ Cupcake Creations (Grades 4-8)

week 1 | june 10 – 14

Who doesn’t love cupcakes? During this baking camp we will spend each day learning fundamental kitchen skills while baking up some cupcakes and then designing them to represent different ‘Summer Vacation’ themes. Think Cupcake Wars for kids – just a little less intense!

Join us for our summer festival foods camp and learn the secrets that make summer amusement park foods the best food on earth! In this camp we will have fun learning about different kinds of summer celebrations and their “menus”. This summer send your kids to cooking camp and they can explore the different regions of the United States without you ever hearing, “are we there yet?”  During this camp we will spend each day learning fundamental kitchen skills while preparing foods from different areas of the country. Chess Camp (Grades 2-6)

Minecraft is a sandbox building game that’s been dominating the world of video gaming for the past few years. Collaborate with fellow campers to construct a city! Art Camps

Theatre Inclusion: Games and Activities for All (Grades K-6)

week 1 | june 10 – 14

Tier A: $250 J Members, $280 Summer Members, $290 Non-Members
This camp will be a fully inclusive experience for campers on the autism spectrum and their neurotypical peers. In this camp we will use theatre games to explore social interaction and empathy skills. We will explore everyday situations using our bodies, voices, and imaginations to role play, and understand things from another point of view. The camp will culminate in an invited sharing that will demonstrate some of the activities we worked on during the week. The goals of this camp are to build collaboration skills, social skills, and confidence. Taught by Talleri McRae.

Spotlight (Drama): Welcome to the Jungle (Grades K-2)

weeks 2-3 | June 17 – 28

Join Tumbili the monkey, Tembo the elephant, Kiboko the hippo, Twiga the giraffe, and the rest of the jungle gang for a very special African adventure.  Welcome to the Jungle is a story of promises kept and friendships made!  Our young performers will spend their days exploring drama concepts and will work together to present this special story! This is a 2-week camp unit.

Spotlight (Drama): Alice in Wonderland, Jr. (Grades 3-8)

weeks 5-6 | july 8 – 19

Travel down the rabbit hole and join Alice, one of literature’s most beloved heroines, in her madcap adventures. Our older campers will love learning this beloved story, its songs and dances, and working together to present this special story to an audience! This is a 2-week camp unit.

Dance Camp: Ballet & Modern (Grades 1-5)

week 7 | july 22 – 26

Tier A: $250 J Members, $280 Summer Members, $290 Non-Members
This dance camp is a great way for your camper to experience dance in a fun-filled, adventure of wonder and enchantment. A week of dance awaits your child in a program that encourages imagination and a love for dance. Daily activities include ballet and modern dance classes and activities that include stories and imagination.  Campers will be putting stories to dance for an end of the week performance for family and friends. This camp is appropriate for boys’ and girls’ in grades 1 through 5.  It is led by Hannah Woosley who has many years of dance experience.  She danced with Louisville’s Youth Performing Arts School and the Louisville Ballet.  She was a Company Dancer for The Academy of Performing Arts in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and for the Frank Sinatra School of Performing Arts in New York City.

STEM Camps

Farm to Camp Outdoor Adventure Camp (Grades 4-8)

week 2 | june 17 – 21

Tier A: $250 J Members, $280 Summer Members, $290 Non-Members
Come experience the first ever Jewish Outdoor, Food, and Environmental Education (JOFEE) Camp at Camp J!  Campers will have opportunities to explore the J’s garden and cook with the produce they harvest.  They will be going offsite for a forest field trip, learning about food justice and feeding those in need. They will learn to think about how they can work to protect our planet, and so much more.  This camp is open to all regardless of religion or background and is a program of the J’s JOFEE Department.

Medieval Mania: Building Castles, Catapults & More (Grades 2-4)

week 5 | july 8 – 12

Tier A: $250 J Members, $280 Summer Members, $290 Non-Members
Do you like castles, knights and all things medieval?  Help make parts of a castle that you can decorate and take home.  Campers will be making life size shields, swords and axes to use and play with. Campers will also learn about family crests, so they can decorate their shields and armor with historical symbols.  There will be a castle competition where campers can build catapults to attack their opponents’ fortress. Taught by Michael Moreland.

Science Olympiad (Grades 5-8)

week 6 | july 15 – 19

Tier A: $250 J Members, $280 Summer Members, $290 Non-Members
Campers will compete in several of the exciting building events from Science Olympiad.  Campers will be building and testing designs throughout the week.  They will focus on three to four events based on camper’s interests.  Events can include building 20-inch tall balsa wood towers, launching air-powered rockets, learning about forensic science, building mousetrap cars, building contraptions in Write It Do It, or a Barbie bungee competition. Taught by Michael Moreland.

Tech Academy: Intro to Coding with Superheroes (Grades K-3)

week 7 | JULY 22 – 26

CREATE YOUR OWN VIDEO GAME! Love video games? Campers create their own platform video games in this cool camp! Choose your storyline with popular super heroes; add challenges and levels of difficulty, then share by email or post on the web to challenge family and friends. Campers can practice math, logic, and programming and put their video game talents to work! The game will be in an animated flash format, viewable in most internet browsers. Bring a jump drive to the last day of class, or files can be emailed to parents.

The Sound of Science (Grades 4-8)

week 8 | july 29 – August 2

Campers will learn about the science behind percussion, string and wind instruments. Every day they will then build instruments that they can play and enjoy!  We will use both recycled materials and common building supplies to construct our instruments. Students interested in science, music, and tinkering are encouraged to enroll. Taught by Michael Moreland.

Drones: Racing & Obstacle Course Challenge (Grades 3-8)

week 9 | august 5 – 9 full days, no swimming

Tier C: $350 J Members, $380 Summer Members, $390 Non-Members
Drone Racing is filled with pure action as students enjoy one of the world’s fastest growing sports. Campers will first learn about the basic safety of drone flying and the history behind drone racing as a sport. From there, campers will progress through various skill challenges and learn how to perform various exercises and maneuvers to become familiar with the drone’s speed and agility. Flight squads post up against one another in friendly competition when they race themselves and the clock. Campers first maneuver the drone through creative obstacle courses before taking on the challenge of flying for speed. Participants contribute fully in this program as they create the design and help build the obstacle course in preparation for the last day’s final activities and competition. All campers go home with interactive workbooks and plenty of Drobots Company keepsakes and trinkets so the memories last long beyond the summer. Drone safety and social responsibilities of flying are included in this program.

Championship League Soccer (Grades K-8)

week 1 | june 10 – 14

Daily training will focus on mobility (gross motor skills development and developmental movement patterns such as squatting, hopping, running and crawling;  stability (balance exercises on the ground and on the soccer ball to trigger core support in the torso); Foot skills (stopping and trapping a moving ball, kicking with instep to a fixed and moving target, basic dribbling and aiming at a moving target, team-building with a focus on analysis of a problem and creative solutions.

Baseball Camp at the J will include instructional baseball drills as well as activities that will be informative, fun and energetic for baseball players at all skill levels. The camp will focus on stretching and warm ups, hitting, fielding/catching, pitching and base running. There will be baseball games daily to practice what the campers have learned.

Sleep Away Camp

Camp Livingston Sleep Away (Grades 3-9)

week 8 | july 29 – August 2

Tier C: $350 J Members, $380 Summer Members, $390 Non-Members
Campers will travel with Camp J to Camp Livingston for 4 nights and 5 days to live together in cabins, allowing them to build close bonds with their peers and develop long term, meaningful relationships. They will participate in programming and have meals together, but also will interact with campers of all ages in camp-wide activities. Campers will be introduced to camp life, communal living, and sleep away camp in a short and positive way.  Campers participate in various specialty areas including athletics, arts and crafts, ropes course, lakefront activities and so much more! Special cabin activities and evening programs complete this amazing and well-rounded program.
