JHFE welcomes new Board Chair, officers and four appointments to the Board of Trustees
The Jewish Heritage Fund for Excellence, a grantmaking organization working to improve community-wide health and foster a vibrant Jewish community, has announced the election of new officers and four appointments to the Board of Trustees for terms commencing June 24, 2016.
David Kaplan, founding partner with Kaplan & Partners LLP, was elected to serve as Board chair. He is joined by Linda Schuster, president and owner of Quantum Communications, who will serve as Board vice chair. Jennifer Tuvlin, J.D will serve as secretary, and Mr. Bruce J. Roth, CPA and partner emeritus at Louis T. Roth & Co., will continue to serve as Treasurer.
“JHFE’s grants for public health, medical research, and Jewish community support will help Louisville become a community of excellence,” said Kaplan. “I’m honored to assume the position of Board chair and look forward to guiding the organization to accomplish this vision.”
Kaplan succeeds Sandra B. Hammond, attorney at Tilford Dobbins Alexander PLLC, who will continue her service as a member of the Board of Trustees.
In addition to the new leadership, the Board of Trustees appointed four new trustees, including:
- Khalid Kahloon is a trial attorney and a former state and federal prosecutor with more than 20 years of legal experience. His practice, Kahloon Law, focuses on representing small physician practices and helping clients develop effective compliance programs. He is a frequent presenter on health care fraud and abuse at national and local conferences. Kahloon is a member of the American Health Law Association and an associate member of the American Medical Association.
- Amy Lapinski has been an active volunteer in Louisville for more than 10 years. Through her work with organizations like the National Council for Jewish Women, Louisville Science Center and duPont Manual High School, she has worked to improve and expand science education and health care services for women and children. Lapinsky holds a Master’s in Public Administration and previously worked in marketing and strategic planning.
- Glenn Levine is the managing director and senior portfolio manager at The Private Client Reserve of U.S. Bank. He is a 26-year member and former president of the Board of the Kentucky Financial Planning Association. Levine has volunteered and been actively involved with organizations including Metro United Way, Jewish Community of Louisville, Home of the Innocents and Fund for the Arts.
- Jacquelyne Richardson is the executive director of the Commission for Children with Special Needs. Richardson has more than 24 years of local and state government experience and is the former chief of staff for the Louisville Department of Public Health and Wellness. She holds an MBA from Webster University and is a certified Professional in Human Resources. She currently serves on the board of directors for Down Syndrome of Louisville and KY SPIN.
