Community Hunger Walk is September 18

The Annual Community Hunger Walk on Sunday, September 18, will start at Waterfront Park. Registration for the 5K walk/run and the Hunger Walk Festival begins at 12:30 and the walk/run will start at 2:15.

Participants are encouraged to register online or to complete a registration form and mail it to The Hunger Walk, Dare to Care Food Bank, P.O. Box 35458, Louisville, KY 40232.

For adults, the registration fee is $25 before September 14, or $35 from September 15-19. For youths (18 and under), the fee is $15 before September 14 or $25 after. Additional donations are welcome.

Seventy-five percent of the net proceeds from the 2011 Hunger Walk will go to the Dare to Care Food Bank, which provides nutritious food, including produce, to over 100,000 people in Kentucky and Southern Indiana. The remaining 25 percent will go to the World Food Program, the world’s leading international hunger relief agency.

To join the Jewish Louisville team, simply register online and select “Join a team,” then find “Jewish Louisville” in the drop down menu.

Dare to Care and Interfaith Paths to Peace are the Hunger Walk’s organizers. The title sponsor is Aramark. Major sponsors are Yum!, Kroger, Fifth Third Bank, LG&E and WHAS11.

The Community Hunger Walk is also co-sponsored by the Jewish Community of Louisville’s Jewish Community Relations Council and many other community leaders. A full list of sponsors will be available soon.
