AJ Announces Fall Offerings in Popular 92nd Street Y Live Series

Congregation Adath Jeshurun has announced the fall lineup for its popular Live from the 92nd Street Y broadcasts. Pre-broadcast desserts and coffee are available half an hour before each program. All broadcasts are held in AJ’s Charles and Jean K. Erskine Auditorium.

Israel’s Chief Rabbi Meir Lau will discuss his story of survival in one of the Nazis’ deadliest concentration camps, his life after the war and his path to becoming the Ashkenazi chief rabbi in Israel with Ron Prosor, Israel’s ambassador to the United Nations. The broadcast will be Wednesday, November 2, at 8 p.m.

On Monday, November 28, Shavei Israel founder Michael Freund will moderate a discussion with members of B’nai Menashe. Hear members of the Bnei Menashe community tell the remarkable story of how this lost tribe in northeast India is finally coming home. Although this group, which traces its roots to the ancient Israelite tribe of Menashe, one of the 10 Lost Tribes, was exiled by the Assyrian empire more than 27 centuries ago, its members have clung to their identity despite being cut off from the rest of the Jewish people. This broadcast will begin at 8:15 p.m.

In the final broadcast of the year, associate justice on the United States Supreme Court Stephen Breyer will give an insider’s perspective on the court as an American institution today and how it is shaping our future. Linda Greenhouse will moderate “Making Our Democracy Work” on Sunday, December 11, at 7:30 p.m.

Individual tickets for each program are $10. Season Pass Tickets for all four broadcasts are available for $30 each.

AJ is also offering 92 Live sponsorships, which include two tickets for each broadcast, for $100; and Popcorn Sponsorships, which include two tickets for one show of your choice, for $50.
