An era of Jewish education in Louisville has come to an end. Sam Gordon has retired as principal of Louisville Beit Sefer Yachad, and on Sunday, December 9, teachers, administrators, friends and family gathered at Napa River Grill to roast and honor him.
Gordon was named principal of the Louisville Hebrew School in August 1995. Over the years, he has overseen the introduction of the Kehila middle school program, the Early Start Hebrew program, the merger of the Adath Jeshurun, Keneseth Israel and Temple Shalom Sunday Schools and the transition of the Louisville Hebrew School into Louisville Beit Sefer Yachad.
Rabbi David Feder, who was hired last fall, is the new LBSY director.
