More than 50 Attend Sushi in the Sukkah

Sukkot means spending some time in a sukkah, often eating a meal there. On September 23, more than 50 people in their 20’s and 30’s from the Jewish Community of Louisville’s Young Adult Division and Congregation Adath Jeshurun fulfilled this mitzvah in AJ’s sukkah with a unique twist. After appetizers and kiddush, the group turned its attention to sushi.

Leila Gentle, owner of Stan’s fish market taught a sushi class and participants had the chance to make three sushi rolls: vegetable, Philadelphia and spicy tuna.

The evening ended with dessert, and everyone left with recipes for the sushi and all the Asian appetizers they sampled during the event.

Micah and Spencer Blue co-chaired this event, which was co-sponsored by AJ and the JCL’s YAD Division.
