Lenny Is Coming!

Lenny is coming! Lenny is coming! Lenny is coming July 31!

But who is Lenny?

Lenny is four-time U.S. Olympic gold medal swimmer Lenny Krayzelburg, and on July 31, you will have the opportunity to meet him, talk with him and learn about his passion for teaching people, especially children, to swim.

Lenny captured three gold medals – 100-meter backstroke, 200-meter backstroke and 4×100-meter medley relay – in the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia, and his fourth in the 4×100-meter medley relay in the 2004 Olympics in Athens.

Born in the Ukraine, where he first started swimming, his family came to America and developed his skills in California, where he swam at the Westside Jewish Community Center and competed in the 1990 Maccabi Youth Games.

Today, Lenny shares his love of swimming with others and has developed a program to teach children to be water safe and to inspire love for the water. The Lenny Krayzelburg Swim Academy has taught thousands of children water safety and the importance of knowing how to swim through the use of platforms that are placed in the water and designed to ensure a certain level of comfort. Through his specific teaching method, the Swim Academy has helped non-swimming adults overcome their fear of the water, too.

Lenny is coming to Louisville on July 31 to launch the newest chapter of his Swim Academy at the Jewish Community Center, and you’re invited to come by and meet him.

So mark July 31 on your calendar today, and watch the next issue of Community for details about this special event.
