JCC Early Childhood Program Meets the Needs of the Benabou Family

[by Ben Goldenberg]

Keren and Yariv Benabou knew they wanted their daughter, Lia, to get a good Jewish education. They did not expect the benefits of enrolling Lia in the J-Care program so soon.

“Within a week of starting the program, she was more social with everyone,” said Keren Benabou. “The teachers have become like a family to Lia.”

Both Keren and Yariv are originally from Israel, but met in Louisville. Keren thought she would stay at home with Lia, but now has gone back to work as a realtor since Lia started in J-Care six months ago. She and Yariv are also volunteering to help with IsraelFest 2011 and are excited to see one of Lia’s teacher’s perform in “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” at CenterStage.

The Early Childhood Education Department offers preschool for children ages 5 months to 4 years, Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m. The J-Care program provides a learning environment in a homelike setting. Children experience a developmentally appropriate curriculum full of music, reading and interaction led by nurturing professionals.

The J-Tots preschool program guides children’s social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development through our experienced teachers. Children will spend time every day with a different specialty: Music, Art, Swimming (3 & 4 year olds only), Spanish and Judaism. Part-time or full-day options are available for two, three or five days a week.
