JCC completely transformed for Light Up CenterStage

[By Ben Goldenberg, Marketing Director]

This year’s Light Up CenterStage, held on Saturday, December 7, was the most successful in the fundraiser’s history. raising $13,000 more than it did last year, which will be used to allow CenterStage to continue its work “Opening Minds One Act at a Time.”

The event boasted an all-new format and featured a stunning new addition to the JCC by turning the upper gym into an elegant, cozy night club.  Guests were heard to say, “I never would have guested I was in a gym. The tent made it feel like a whole new place!”  In fact, the entire first floor looked like a whole new place with beautiful drapery down the hall and gorgeous feather lighting in the auditorium. The JCC was bursting with orange, pink, and red.

The ninth annual event featured a huge silent auction, decadent food and desserts and an open bar sponsored by Heaven Hill.

Despite the treacherous weather, over 200 attended the event, setting a record for Light Up CenterStage. The guests were entertained by many of CenterStage’s favorite company members performing Broadway musical numbers from “The Cell Block Tango” (Chicago) to “Step-sister’s Lament” (Cinderella).

During the evening of entertainment and auctions, guests were able to lounge on very comfortable seats thanks to a donation from Fifty Chairs.
The $50,000 raised will be used to further arts educational programming with CenterStage Acting Out and producing quality, though provoking musicals at CenterStage.

Stay tuned for details of the 100th Anniversary of theatre at the JCC in 2014.
