We are excited to announce that veteran journalist Uriel Heilman will be the 2017 David and Reva Waldman Kahn Scholar in Residence. See below for Uri’s bio.

Uriel Heilman is a veteran journalist whose work spans the Jewish world. A 10-time Rockower Award winner, Mr. Heilman has served as JTA’s managing editor, senior US national correspondent, and news editor, worked for the Jerusalem Post as New York bureau chief, an Israel reporter and a magazine writer, and was a staffer for the Forward as a city reporter. Mr. Heilman’s journalism awards include prizes for his comprehensive coverage of U.S. Jewry, investigative work covering Holocaust restitution and Ethiopian immigration to Israel, coverage of the kosher food industry, and feature stories about Jewish life and personalities. Mr. Heilman also has been recognized for distinction by the Society of Professional Journalists. In addition to his work at JTA, Mr. Heilman also writes for Hadassah Magazine, B’nai B’rith Magazine and a host of other publications around the United States. He appears on TV and radio programs around the country, has reported from five continents, and regularly lectures about the issues he covers.
