Join us this evening for Sunday Night Live at Virtual AJ for a Mother’s Day Concert with A Trio from Maxwell Street Klezmer Band!
Featuring…Guitarist – Lori Lippitz, Violinist – Alex Koffman, and Pianist – Gail Mangurien.
In 1983, a young vocalist named Lori Lippitz dreamed of the day that klezmer music would again be played for joyous dancing at Jewish simchas in her hometown of Chicago. Now, as it approaches its 40th anniversary, the Maxwell Street Klezmer Band continues to bring the “joy of klez” to festivals and simchas around the world. Their skill and enthusiasm has brought audiences to their feet from Carnegie Hall to the Barbican in London to the Mozart Hall in Vienna. Violinist and Band Director Alex Koffman, a Belarus native, channels the spirit of his grandparents from the shtetl as he lights up the stage with virtuosity and lyricism!
