Rabbi Dan Judson: Pennies from Heaven

The Temple Welcomes Scholar on Synagogues and Money
The Temple will be welcome Rabbi Dan Judson, an expert on the history of the financing of American synagogues as Scholar in Residence, May 13-15.  Rabbi Judson has recently completed his doctoral dissertation at Brandeis University entitled: “Pennies From Heaven: The History of American Synagogues and Money”.  His research on synagogues that have eliminated dues has been featured in the New York Times, The Boston Globe, Reform Judaism magazine, and the Jewish Week.
Rabbi Judson will be speaking at The Temple for Sabbath Evening Services, May 13 at 7:00 pm, teaching Torah Saturday morning at 9:00 am, and will be providing a community oriented educational session on the challenges of supporting synagogue life in the 21st Century on Sunday, May 15 at 10:30 am.  A Bagel Brunch will be provided.  This program is free and open to the entire Jewish community.
