Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning at AJ

Louisville’s Florence Melton School of Jewish Learning promotes Jewish literacy in an open, pluralistic, egalitarian and stimulating environment. Students come from Reform Conservative, Orthodox and unaffiliated backgrounds. The 2017-2018 schedule is as follows:

Tuesdays 6:30 PM – 9:00 PMTerm 1 – September 5, 12, 26, October 17, 24, 31, November 7, 14, 28, December 5 – Term 2 – December 12, 19, 2017 – January 16, 23, 30, February 6, 13, 20, 27, March 6 – Term 3 – March 13, 20, April 10, 17, 24, May 1, 8, 15, 22, 29, 2018.

Thursdays 9:30 AM – Noon: Term 1 – September 7, 14, 28, October 19, 26, November 2, 9, 16, 30, December 7 – Term 2 – December 14, 21, 2017 – January 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15, 22, March 1, 8 – Term 3 – March 15, 22, April 12,19, 26, May 3, 10, 17, 24, 31, 2018.

Core Curriculum – 30 lessons – Tuition $235

Year 1: The Purpose of Jewish Learning and The Rhythms of Jewish Living: Evening option: Tuesdays 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM or Morning option: Thursdays 9:30 AM – Noon.

Year 2: The Crossroads of Jewish History and The Ethics of Jewish Living: Evening option: Tuesdays 6:30 PM – 9:00 PM or Morning option: Thursdays 9:30 AM – Noon.

Scholars Curriculum – 10 lessons (Term 1) – Tuition $125

Beyond Borders: The History of the Arab-Israeli Conflict: Evenings: Tuesdays 6:30 PM – 7:40 PM.

Shemot (Exodus) 1: From Slavery to Sinai: Evenings: Tuesdays 7:50 PM – 9:00 PM.

Ruth, Judith & Esther: Mornings: Thursdays 9:30 AM – 10:40 AM.

Jews in America: Insiders and Outsiders: Mornings: Thursdays 10:50 AM – Noon.
