Lifeguard Certification

Learn life guarding, first aid, CPR and AED training
PURPOSE: To teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and
respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants
to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings
and injuries.
PREREQUISITES: Participants must be able to swim 300 yards continuously using front
crawl and breaststroke. Starting in the water, participants must be able to swim 20 yards
using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7 – 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object,
return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit
the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
Class will be held at The J:
- Sundays, April 8 and 15 9 a.m.-6 p.m.
- Mondays, April 9, 16 and 25 4:30-8:30 p.m.
- Thursdays, April 12 and 19 4:30-8:30 p.m.
All participants must attend all classes in order to be certified.
