Farbrengen @ Chabad
December 11, 2014 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
On Thursday, December 11, Chabad invites the Jewish Community to join in a festive Chassidic Gathering, marking two auspicious dates on the Chabad Calendar. On the Hebrew calendar, Thursday is the 19 of Kislev, celebrated around the world as the day the first Chabad Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalmen of Liadi, was released from prison in Russia, where he had been incarcerated for encouraging the spreading of Torah and Mitzvot.
We will also be marking the 33rd cycle of completing the study of the RaMBaM, Rabbi Moshe ben Maimom. Perhaps one of the most famous common era sage, the Rambam, among his many works, codified the 613 commandments, explaining and detailing each commandment. In 1984, the Lubavitcher Rebbe urged all of Jewish people to learn the Rambam’s Mishne Torah each year, promoting knowledge and unity.
The event will be held at the Louisville Chabad House, located at 1654 Almara Circle, at 7:00 PM. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, visit chabadky.com or facebook.com/chabadky, email chabad@chabadky.com or call 235-5770.
