Membership Communications – 03.19.2020

March 19, 2020

Dear J Family and Friends,

For the safety and health of our community, we made the difficult decision to suspend operations at the J last week – including our Early Childhood Program (ELC), Senior Services, Youth Programs, and our Fitness Areas within the JCC building.

It seems unthinkable that it was only last week that we communicated to you that our operations would be suspended through Sunday, March 22. However, after receiving guidance from the CDC and local, state and national officials, we are following directives to suspend all communal activities and keep the JCC building closed through at least the end of Passover, April 17. Our Board of Directors and Senior Leadership Team know that this is in the best interest of our Community.

During this unprecedented time, we thank you for your patience as we evaluate all options relative to the financial ramifications for the JCC against how this situation impacts you, the members of our J family. We are also mindful of our staff – the majority of our staff will be working remotely during this time. We are diligently working to stay connected to each other virtually and ensure that we provide valuable information and content to our Community.

Temporarily closing our building does not mean, however, that we will stop being The J and fulfilling our mission to provide a pathway of bringing people together to discover, connect and flourish.

So far this week we have continued delivering meals to our seniors’ homes. You might have seen the story featuring our very own Active Adult & Senior Adult Programming Director, Tara Stone, on WLKY last night. Also, this week, our ELC community has stayed very active online and on their Facebook group. Likewise, we are streaming workouts on our J Facebook page for you to do at home. We want to help you maintain at least a part of your daily routine and bring The J into your home. As such, we will be announcing many online and virtual opportunities to stay connected very soon. Please stay tuned to our social media channels (Facebook and The J Website) for up-to-date information.

Your contributions to The J are more critical than ever in allowing us to continue to serve our Community and now bringing services to you in new ways. Your continued support is greatly appreciated and vital at this moment.

Please know that we have options to ensure that The J continues to be a part of your life, even if financial concerns become a reality for you.

We ask you to consider these options:

  • Yes! I/we want to continue supporting The J, including staff, as well as activities and fitness programming for myself and my family members in our home and will continue paying monthly dues. The J Community thanks you so much and no action is needed on your part. The current billing cycle will run on Thursday, March 26.
  • I/we need to suspend membership for the upcoming billing cycle. We understand and ask you to please email yourjcc@jewishlouisville.org by Monday, March 23 at noon to let us know.
  • I/we are unable to pay dues in full at this time but would like to continue supporting The J in a way that helps. Please contact our Membership Department by emailing yourjcc@jewishlouisville.org for giving options. We are so appreciative.

As we continue to serve our Community, albeit, in new and different ways, we need you. We need you to tell us how we can support you and your family. We need your feedback on the new ways we are reaching out. And we need you to know that our Community is far better together than any of us individually.

We thank each and every one of you for your support of The J Community.

Sincerely,
Jon Fleischaker
