Support Your Jewish Community News Source

May 10, 2010

Dear Reader,

When you want to know what’s happening to Jews around the world and in Louisville, you won’t find it in the general media. For the information you need, you know you can count on Community, your Jewish newspaper serving the entire Jewish community, to give you accurate information about the latest developments and most pressing issues.

Community is your primary source of information about what’s happening in our local Jewish community, providing regular updates about the changes at the Jewish Community of Louisville and exciting new programs like PJ Plus and Young Adult social programs and information about BBYO, special programs and synagogue and agency news. Community also brings you important news from Israel you won’t find in the secular press and updates about our Partnership with Israel region, the Western Galilee.  From listings of upcoming b’nai mitzvah to in-depth interviews with members of the community to information about the Community Relations Council, the Melton Adult Mini-School, the services Jewish Family & Career Services provides for those affected by the economy, camp and cultural programming at the JCC to news about the Annual Campaign, endowments, Jewish education and more, you can find it all in Community.

We’ve set a high standard; however, we need your help to maintain it. It is expensive to produce the newspaper. Our staff works very hard to generate as much advertising revenue as they can and to hold down expenses, but it is not enough to cover all costs. Printing, photography, production and mailing expenses continue to rise.

In order to continue to provide a quality Jewish newspaper for Louisville and to minimize our requests for support from the Annual Campaign, Community needs your help. We ask our readers for a voluntary tax-deductible annual contribution to supplement the allocation from Campaign and help defray the rising expenses of publication. Please consider becoming a patron for $500 and over, a sponsor for $250-$499, a donor for $100-$249, a friend for $50-$99, or a fair share supporter for $36-49.

The generosity of our readers who have contributed in previous years is greatly appreciated, and we ask your continued support this year so that Louisville’s Jewish newspaper will remain strong and vital. If you enjoy Community but have not contributed before, please consider helping us now. Your contribution will be acknowledged publicly by category in Community unless you request us not to publish your name on the form below or on the donation page.

Thank you. We look forward to another year of serving you.

Sincerely,

Shiela Steinman Wallace
Editor, Community
