The jets are on and the joyful sounds of children can once again be heard from the Wading Pool at the JCC. With the help of 4 generations of the Benn B. Davis family, the newly renovated Seng Jewelers Wading Pool was reopened and was dedicated on Sunday, July 1.
The pool now features an Americans with Disabilities Act approved, zero-depth entry. The renovation also included four deck jets and two bubblers at the mouth of the pool.
Jessica and Scott Davis spearheaded the project. “We would not have been able to undertake a project of this size without the leadership of Jessica and Scott,” says President and CEO Stu Silberman. “The expanded wading pool is a great addition to the JCC and will be enjoyed for many years.”
Many families with small children are already getting great use of the pool. “We come here 2-3 times per week,” says Sarah Dewberry. “We love the water jets. It gives the kids something else to play with in the water.”
The JCC also expanded the hours of the pools, opening an hour earlier at 9:30 a.m. for the rest of the summer. The family pool will close on September 15 and the lap pool and wading pool will close on September 30. All pools will close on any day when it is not above 60 degrees.
