Free workshops sponsored by JFCS and the Jewish Community Center.

Each workshop offered twice on each date – 9:30 a.m. and 7 p.m., held at the JCC. Free babysitting with advance registration.

Choosing Your Child’s School

Are you curious about which of the various public, private & parochial elementary school programs offered in the Louisville area is right for your child? This presentation will help you make that crucial decision!

Admission is free.

Ellen Shapira, M.A. JFCS Educational and Career Counselor will address the issues parents want to consider when selecting the most appropriate school for their children.

Representatives from public, private and parochial schools will be present to meet parents and answer questions about their schools. After the presentation, booklets will be available to families that contain information regarding the various schools’ philosophies and programs.

Diabetes Support Group
This group is available for individuals with diabetes to have the chance to talk about having a chronic condition and share the ways they cope. The group will meet the third Monday of each month at 3:30 pm. Contact Hannah Cooper at ext. 308.

Parkinson’s Support Group
People with Parkinson’s and their friends will meet at JFCS the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 11 a.m. For more information, please email Marilyn Bornstein at mbornstein@jfcslouisville.org.

Passport Around Louisville (PALS)
Easy to use, affordable program that transports seniors to medical and personal appointments, grocery shopping, volunteer activies and more.

New to the program – wheelchair accessible van and assistance to and through the door escort service.

Mitzvah/Volunteer Opportunities

PALS Drivers Needed
PALS drivers needed to drive a senior to an appointment just once each month. Training provided. Contact Shelley Kahn at ext. 103.               

Shabbos Friends Volunteers Needed
Shabbos Friends volunteers needed to visit just one nursing facility on the 1st or 3rd Friday of each month, to share the Sabbath blessings, fresh challah and spiritual joy with Jewish residents living there. JFCS Food Pantry Items Needed
Food Pantry suggestions for October: 

Thanksgiving food:  Cranberry sauce, Pumpkin pie filling, Canned yams, Muffin mix

All donated food must be in its original packaging. Please do not donate expired items as they cannot be distributed.

Help Maintain JFCS Landscape

Start a New Career in the Healthcare Field as a Home Care Aide!
JFCS is seeking persons interested in entering the healthcare field. Interested participants will receive training to become a non-medical home care aide who can perform homemaking tasks and personal care for older adults. For more information, contact Helen Hord at ext. 226.

JFCS care managers will work with you and your family to provide necessary support to maintain safety, comfort, peace of mind and the highest quality of life for seniors who wish to remain in  their home or alternative living situation.
