Special Guest Speaker at The Temple: Rabbi Uri Regev

September 16, 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 7:30 pm

Special Guest Speaker: Rabbi Uri Regev
Friday, September 16 at 6:30 p.m. and Saturday, September 17 at 9 a.m. during Torah Study
Rabbi Uri Regev is an internationally renowned leader and advocate of religious liberty and the liberal movements of Judaism in his native Israel and around the world.

Rabbi Regev serves as the President and CEO of an educational and advocacy Israel-Diaspora partnership, “Freedom Of Religion for Israel” and of its Israeli counterpart, “Hiddush – For Religious Freedom and Equality”, which he founded in 2009.

For seven years [2002-2008] he served as president of the World Union for Progressive Judaism. As head of the World Union, Rabbi Regev worked to strengthen modern, pluralistic Jewish life and democracy in the Jewish state and throughout the world. He also guided the organization in its tikkun olam (repairing the world) initiatives through social advocacy programs on both the local level and in partnership with prominent international non-governmental organizations such as the United Nations.

The Temple together with Temple Shalom invites all members of the community to please join us Friday, September 16 at 6:30 p.m. as Rabbi Uri will speak during services. His topic poses the question, The well-being of Israel as a Jewish and democratic state may depend on us – are we meeting the challenge?
