Shabbat Scholar at Adath Jeshurun

Join us as we welcome Dr. Natalie Polzer- Shabbat Scholar

Talk Title: The More Wives, The More Witchcraft- Men and Women’s Magical Practice in Jewish Palestine and Babylonia 200-700 CE

Both Jewish men and women practiced what we would call magic in rabbinic Palestine and Babylonia from the Roman period to Muslim conquest. Were the magical practices of men and women similar or different?
Dr. Polzer will give an overview of rabbinic written sources and magical artifacts.

This event will be held at Adath Jeshurun, 2401 Woodbourne Avenue, beginning at 12:30 PM Board Room
