Join us this morning for AJ’s Shabbat Learning Series – 10:00 AM Shabbat Service – 10:40 AM program featuring Yahlamed Israel and Yehudah Husband – “Juneteenth: An Historical and Contemporary Perspective.”
In the days before radios, telephones and the internet, it took time for news to travel, especially that the Civil War has ended, the Emancipation Proclamation had freed all slaves, and that there was a 13th Amendment added to the Constitution which formally abolished slavery in the United States. Two AJ members, Yahlamed Israel and Yehudah Husband, will share their unique perspectives on what Juneteeth means in their lives as African Americans and as Jews. Please join us!
