COBRA REUNION
On April 28th, the five men pictured had a reunion of a Father and Son banquet of the Cobra Athletic Club. They are from left standing, Marty Cohen, Don Stern, Gerry Fine, Harold Gordon and seated is Gil Levitch. During the 1940’s at the Y.M.H.A. (the predecessor to the current J.C.C.), there were several teen clubs. The Cobras, Condors, Clovers, AZA 107, AZA 404 and the Cardinals represented the boys. The girls belonged to Modern Fems, Amitie or STP. These clubs organized all the social and athletic events for the Jewish teens in those years.
Harold Gordon found the above photo from 1945 and the idea of a reunion brunch followed. Others in the picture who were unable to attend include Shelly Isaacs, Stan Goodman, Morris Mehl, Morton Norman, Frances Wolff, Joe Ernst, Alan Cohen, Louis Levy and Don Gordon. Some members have passed on and they are Mark Sexter, Lee Berman, Bobby Marks, Donnie Bass, Julius Loeser, Stan Loeser, Maurice Gordon and Paul Bell.
