Brigadoon Comes to CenterStage

CenterStage will present Lerner and Loewe’s whimsical, musical fantasy Brigadoon, at the Jewish Community Center October 21-November 7.

Brigadoon is the story of a mysterious Scottish village, which comes out of the Highland mists once every 100 years, only to disappear after one day.

The passing of each century seems no longer than one night to the villagers, who view the enchantment as a blessing rather than a curse, for it saved the village from destruction. No one from Brigadoon may ever leave, or the enchantment will be broken and the site and all its inhabitants will disappear into the mist forever. However, when two American tourists, lost on a hunting vacation in Scotland, stumble upon the village their arrival results in serious implications for the village’s inhabitants.

CenterStage boasts a cast of 40 for this show. Alex Craig stars as Tommy Albright and Colette Delaney as Fiona MacLaren. Brigadoon also includes the well-known songs “Almost Like Being in Love,” “Heather on the Hill,” “I’ll Go Home With Bonnie Jean” and more.

Choose from performances on October 21, 23, 28 and 30, and November 1, 4 and 6 at 7:30 p.m.; October 24 and November 7 at 2 p.m.; and October 31 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.
