Atlanta-based Nursing Professionals magazine has named Jewish Hospital to its “2009 Top 100 Hospitals to Work For” list. Jewish Hospital is the only Kentucky hospital to make the list.

“It’s an honor for Jewish Hospital to be named to this prestigious list,” said Marty Bonick, president and CEO of Jewish Hospital. “The recognition serves as a testament of our dedication to not only our nurses, but also our team members in general.”

The selection process for the facilities mentioned was done through a random survey of 25,000 hospital nurses throughout the country that measured their job satisfaction. Sample questions included:

  • How well does your hospital manage your personal training and development?
  • Is your hospital a family-friendly employer?
  • Does your hospital offer flexible working arrangements?
  • Does your hospital promote equality and diversity in your nursing workforce?
  • How strong is the nursing voice within your hospital on a scale of 1-10?

“This survey confirms our commitment to our nursing staff’s satisfaction, which allows them to focus on providing great patient care,” said Cheryl Fugatte, chief nursing officer of Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s HealthCare. “We make every effort to provide them with the tools necessary to do their jobs and let them know they are a valuable part of our organization.”

Research associates compiled the returned surveys to determine the final list.
