Volunteers Sought for Cancer Prevention Study

The American Cancer Society is conducting research known as Cancer Prevention Study-3 to work toward a cancer-free tomorrow. They are looking for volunteers to participate in this study.

The study is open to anyone in the United States and Puerto Rico who is willing to commit to the study long term, is between the ages of 30 and 65 and has never been diagnosed with cancer (not including basal or squamoius cell skin cancer).

After scheduling an enrollment appointment, participants will receive an e-mail confirmation and instructions to complete an online comprehensive survey that will cover medications they are taking, family history of cancer, lifestyle and other behaviors. This survey will take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete.

At the enrollment appointment, participants will be asked to sign an informed consent form, complete a brief survey and provide a waist circumference measurement and a small blood sample (similar to a doctor’s visit). The appointment should last approximately 20-30 minutes.

Enrollment will take place at various locations in Greater Louisville Tuesday-Saturday, August 7-11. Enrollment is being brought to Greater Louisville in partnership with Jewish Cancer Care, part of Kentucky One Health, and the YMCA of Greater Louisville.
