The Plein Air Painters of Kentucky Bring Open Air Art to the JCC Patio Gallery

The Plein Air Painters of Kentucky commit to paint once a week from May until October. Sharon Leightty, a professor at the University of Louisville, juried the show. The selected works will be displayed at the JCC Patio Gallery starting on October 21. An opening reception will be held from 2-4 p.m. and Jane Morgan, owner of the Jane Morgan Gallery and Plein Air artist will speak about the group at 3 p.m. The exhibit runs through November 27.

Painting “en plein air” means to paint outside, often dealing with the forces of nature. Many plein air painters paint on-site from start to finish. The elements of the landscapes are constantly changing and the artists must know and have a feeling for the subject they are painting.

Artists selected for the juried show include: Katie Burke, Catherine Bryant, Angela Campbell, Jenni Deamer, Penny Diamond, Suzanne Dougherty, Caron Mass Fausel, Pat Hagan, Susan Humphress, Walter Lay, George McCracken, Helen Herrick, Jane Morgan, Rita Neblett, Bob Purol, Pat Ritter, Pam Stockard, Valtcho Tonov, John Van Meter and Gail Zeh.
