This course will prepare you to recognize and care for a variety of first aid, breathing, and cardiac emergencies involving adults, children, and infants and meets OSHA/workplace requirements. This course includes an online component and an instructor-led classroom skill session. The online component must be completed prior to attending the in-class portion. You will receive a link to the online component after you register for the class. Upon successful completion of this course, you will receive a digital certificate for Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED valid for two years. The class will meet in room 201.

PURPOSE: To teach participants the knowledge and skills needed to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies. The course content and activities prepare participants to recognize and respond quickly and effectively to emergencies and prevent drownings and injuries.
PREREQUISITES: Participants must be able to swim 300 yards continuously using front crawl and breaststroke. Starting in the water, participants must be able to swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive 7 – 10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return to the surface, swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object and exit the water without using a ladder or steps, within 1 minute, 40 seconds.
