Thanksgiving Dinner Without the Guilt? The JCC Can Help

For most Americans, stuffing themselves with turkey, stuffing and pie at Thanksgiving dinner is a tradition to which they look forward. The post-feast feeling of guilt for the amount of calories consumed is just the price of admission.

Many Jewish Community Center members and their guests will chow down with a little less guilt because they will have sweated out those calories in advance at our Pre-feast Fitness Fest.

From 8 to 10 a.m. Nov. 27, the JCC will offer five group fitness classes in 30-minute segments.

“Members can try out classes they might not normally take while getting in a good workout with lots of variety,” said Ron Peacock, fitness director.
There will be J-Barre with Mary Delk, Yoga with Michelle Mardis, BODYPUMP® Express with Penny Clinard, Cycle with Lisa Lanzet and Boot Camp with Ryan Perryman. Cycling and J-Barre participants must reserve their spots because spaces may fill up fast.

The normal JCC fitness schedule will be canceled that morning and will be replaced with this special event, and participants can move from class to class every 30 minutes. Participants will get a Feast Card to show which classes they attended, and if they participate in four classes, they will be entered into a drawing for prizes. Non-members can win two months of free membership, and members can win a gift certificate for JCC programs.

The Pre-feast Fitness Fest is open to JCC members and their guests. Guest passes will be half-price ($4 for adults 12 and older, $2 for kids ages 3-12).

The JCC will be open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.
