Sr. PGA To Raise Funds for JHSMH

In celebration of the 2011 Senior PGA Championship arriving at Louisville’s Valhalla Golf Club, local dignitaries will host a VIP reception and dinner party on Tuesday, May 24, at the home of Atlanta Falcons Quarterback and former University of Louisville football player, Chris Redman.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Foundation for the purchase of a musculoskeletal ultrasound machine. The machine will cost roughly $30,000 and will be located at Jewish Sports Medicine’s Central Station location near Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium and the Jim Patterson Baseball Stadium, making it easily accessible for athletes from the University of Louisville and local high schools.

The musculoskeletal ultrasound exposes part of the body to high-frequency sound waves to produce pictures of muscles, tendons, ligaments, joints and soft tissue. The machine is an important tool in sports medicine because a wide array of sports-related injuries do not appear in an x-ray and are not visible to the naked eye.

Redman will be joined by Heisman Trophy Winner and Pro Football Hall of Famer Paul Hornung and other notable guests at the event, which includes a VIP reception, autographed memorabilia gift baskets and a Kentucky-themed buffet dinner served poolside.

Funds from the event will also be used to meet a challenge grant from the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation in support of Frazier Rehab Institute’s spinal cord medicine program, one of the nation’s leading acute rehabilitation programs providing comprehensive treatment utilizing state-of-the-art technologies designed to maximize recovery.

Tickets start at $300 and are available at giving.jhsmh.org or 587-4060.
