Spin Your Wheels During Chanukah to Help Special Olympics and the JCC

LOUISVILLE, KY (Nov. 27, 2012) – Spinning dreidels, meet spinning wheels, your new Chanukah pal. The JCC of Louisville is taking part in a national stationary bike event called Cycle for Good on December 9, the first Sunday of Chanukah, from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Thanks to staggered start times, participants in Cycle for Good will be riding bikes at the same time in Jewish Community Centers across North America.

Every year, Cycle for Good will raise money and give a certain portion to a chosen charity designated by JCC Association, the leadership network for the JCC Movement. This year, Cycle for Good is raising money for the JCC and Special Olympics, the athletic competition for the developmentally disabled.

Individuals can rent bikes for $25 per hour or they can solicit sponsors to fund their rides. Group cycle classes will be canceled for the day, but instructors will lead sessions during most hours of the event.

“Cycling is a great way to workout in the winter and is one of the JCC’s most popular fitness offerings,” says Cycle for Good Coordinator Tara Stone. “Cycle for Good is a great way to get a workout while giving back to your community. What better Chanukah gift is there?”

The JCC will open its doors to anyone who wants to bike during Cycle for Good. Advance registrations are encouraged and can be made by calling 502-238-2726.
