High Holy days. Donate to the 2012 Federation Campaign.

On behalf of the Jewish Community of Louisville and the annual Federation Campaign, we wish you and your family a heartfelt Happy New Year. With the support of members of the Jewish community like you,  we make lives brighter here in our own community, in Israel and in over 70 countries around the world.

Federation does a world of good.

Instead of sending you a New Year’s card, we decided to present you with something more in keeping with the spirit of the season – the opportunity to perform the mitzvah of tzedakah – so you can go into the High Holy Days having completed one more act of kindness!

As the economy continues to wreak havoc with countless lives, far too many among us struggle just to keep food on the table, like Sarah, who was laid off from her job and didn’t know where to begin. Sarah turned to the JCL. “I realized there can be no shame in asking for help. This is part of our Jewish culture, part of the Jewish religion.”

The JCL gave her a scholarship for her JCC membership and connected her with Jewish Family & Career Services, which provided job counseling, emotional support and food through the food pantry, thanks to  support from the annual Federation Campaign. We were there for her until she was able to get back on her feet.

Our Jewish community must continue to be here for more people who, like Sarah, desperately need us, and it is
the annual Federation Campaign that enables us to meet increasing requests for food, counseling and other assistance.

As you prepare to observe the High Holy Days, we invite you to perform one more act of kindness, one more mitzvah. Please open your heart again – by sending a generous gift to JCL’s 2012 Federation Campaign.

Please do your part this New Year so we can provide food, medicine and employment counseling to our most vulnerable neighbors. Together, we can help them face and overcome the toughest of challenges as soon as possible. At the same time, we ensure a strong, vibrant future for Judaism l’dor vador, from generation to generation.

So this Rosh Hashanah, this Yom Kippur, will you touch the lives of more people like Sarah – people who live near your own home and beyond? Please do something meaningful and send the largest tax-deductible contribution you can to 2012 Federation Campaign. Because if not now, when? If not you, who?

On behalf of the grateful men, women, and children you’ll help with your compassion and generosity, we thank you in advance for your tzedakah!

Sincerely,

P.S. With Federation support, Sarah has turned her life around and is working again.  Now, please help do a world of good for so many others by sending a gift to 2012 Federation Campaign today.  Once again, our very best wishes to you and your loved ones for the New Year!
