Republic Bank Returns as Title Sponsor of Annual JCC/JFCS Golf Challenge

As the cold February winds blow the snow around and we shiver in the cold, the idea of getting out on the golf course may not be the first thing that comes to mind. But for the Jewish Community Center and Jewish Family & Career Services, February is the time to think about golf as they begin planning for their annual tournament.

Continuing their longstanding support for the two agencies, Golf Tournament Committee Chair Reed Weinberg has announced Republic Bank will once again be the title sponsor, and the 2011 Republic Bank Golf Challenge will be held on Monday, June 27, at Standard Country Club.

“This event is a fun, recreational outing for the community,” Weinberg said. “However, it is also one of the most crucial fundraisers for both JCL and JFCS. It delivers tens of thousands of dollars to the bottom line of the agencies and is one of the most important fundraisers in the entire Jewish community.

“Once again, we are relying on the support and involvement from Scott Trager and Republic Bank to serve as the valued title sponsor,” Weinberg continued, “and we need the continued support from other businesses and individuals in the community. We are also excited about the change in venue to the Standard Country Club. Standard’s commitment as a valued member of our community will enhance the event and hopefully draw more golfers.”

The committee is considering another change as well. They are considering the addition of a tennis tournament that will occur the same day and will create other opportunities for people to participate.

Additional sponsors and volunteers are welcome. For more information, contact JFCS Executive Director Judy Freundlich Tiell at jftiell@jfcslouisville.org.

Members of the Golf Committee are Mark Ament, Jeff Calderon, Ed Cohen, Gregg Davidoff, David Fuchs, Jay Klempner, Jim Morguelan, Doug Roemer and Dan Streit.
