The Republic Bank Golf Challenge will be held Monday, June 25, at the Standard Country Club. The event benefits both the Jewish Community Center and Jewish Family & Career Services.
“All of the participants really enjoyed playing at Standard last year,” said Judy Freundlich Tiell, JFCS Executive Director. “We are thrilled that the club’s management made it an easy choice to return for this year’s event.”
The move to the Standard Country Club allows the organizations the opportunity to expand tournament offerings. Again this year, a tennis tournament and a bridge tournament will add more excitement and enable more people to participate in fun activities while providing program support to the JCC and JFCS.
“With the addition of these two popular activities, we open the door to many more people who want to participate in this communitywide event,” commented Doug Roemer, golf committee chair.
Golfer registration begins at 11 a.m. The golf range and a golf product demonstration tent will open at the same time. Lunch is available as part of the golf registration fee. There will be a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.
Registration is $275 per golfer.
Evan Bailey, the new tennis pro at Standard, will organize the tournament with a volunteer committee that is being recruited now. Tentatively, the tennis tournament will run from 2-5 p.m. It will be a mixed doubles, round robin format for 3.0 or below and 3.5 or above. Players can register as an individual or as a doubles team. The registration fee is $60 per person, which includes dinner.
Volunteers to organize the bridge tournament will meet on Tuesday, April 17, at JFCS. “There is a core group of players at Standard who we hope will play, and if we get players from the Bridge Center and other bridge clubs, it will be a fun tournament,” said Beverly Bromley, JFCS Development Director and staff director for the tennis and bridge events. The Duplicate Bridge Tournament will run from 1-5 p.m. It would be best to select partners and register together; however, the $25 registration fee is per person. If participants would like to join everyone for dinner, the cost will be $35 per person.
