Registration for Consortium Birthright Israel Trip Opens Sept. 14; Promises No Waitlists for Those in Participating Communities

Over the years, Taglit-Birthright Israel, the program that provides free peer-group trips to Israel for Jewish young adults, ages 18-26, has gotten so popular that each trip fills up just a few hours after registration opens, leaving many people on waiting lists.

The Partnership with Israel communities in the Central Area Consortium put together a special trip with IsraelExperts that guarantees a place for young adults from Akron, Canton, Dayton, Toledo and Youngstown, OH; Indianapolis, Northwest Indiana and South Bend, IN; Omaha, NE; Des Moines, IA; Louisville, KY; and Austin, Dallas and San Antonio, TX.

Participants will see the Old City, Ben Yehuda street and everything in between that make Jerusalem one of the most extraordinary places on Earth. They will enjoy the beaches, nightlife, culture and history of Tel Aviv, and have a camel ride and an overnight experience in a Bedouin-like tent. They’ll hike through a spectacular desert canyon and up the lush green hillsides of the Galilee, float in the Dead Sea, the lowest place on Earth, and learn first-hand about the complexities of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict with both Israeli Jews and Israeli Arabs.

The program takes a pluralistic approach, and participants will learn from experienced tour guides and top quality informal educators and facilitators.

Registration for the Central Area Consortium 2011-12 Winter Taglit-Birthright Israel Trip opens at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, September 14; and on Tuesday, September 13, at noon for those who have been waitlisted for other trips.

When registration opens, go to IsraelExperts website www.taglit.israelexperts.com and follow the instructions. Choose Central Consortium Communities trip as your trip of preference. Within 24-48 hours, you will receive an e-mail from IsraelExperts with further instructions about how to complete the last part of registration on the IsraelExperts infocenter.
