The Jewish Community of Louisville’s Young Leadership Development class met at the Jewish Community Center for their fourth session on Sunday, March 27. During their “Lunch with a Leader” session, they met with Joe Pusateri, president and owner of Elite Homes Inc.
Pusateri has been a respected community leader and organizer for many years, and whenever he undertakes a community project, he leads by example. During this class, he covered the leadership lessons he learned from his participation in Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
In 2010, his company took the lead on renovating a home in Louisville for this popular TV show. He had done the same thing in 2007. Pusateri talked about being a leader, delegating responsibilities and handling big projects.
Elite Homes builds 40-75 homes a year valued from $250,000 to over $1,000,000, and is one of the largest locally-owned home building companies in Louisville. The company has built over 1100 homes in the area over the last 35 years, and is currently developing eight subdivisions in the metro area.
Pusateri’s company also does extensive remodeling, and was recognized at the 68th largest full-service remodeler in the country by Remodeling magazine in the August 2010 issue.
Pusateri has been involved in the Louisville community for over three decades. In 1993, he brought Homearama to Smoketown, building the first new homes in that neighborhood in over 50 years.
In 2003, he organized a rescue package to help save the Louisville Orchestra and subsequently served as the president of their board from 2005-08.
Pusateri is the author of Building Your Dream Home – What You Need to Know.
Scott Weinberg and Shannon Levine are the YLD co-chairs.
