Purim Baskets Given to Homebound Seniors

To celebrate the joyous Purim holiday season, more than 40 homebound seniors received Purim Gift Baskets from the Senior Adult Social Club at the JCC. The baskets were filled with fruit, raisins, hamantashen and candy. The Senior Adult Social Club members Mag Davis, Rosmary O’Leary, Teresa Barczy, Dorothy Ashcroft and Sylvia Gilbert decorated the baskets with handmade paper flowers and notes.

Homebound seniors receive meals five days-a-week from the JCC Home Delivery Nutrition Program. The meals are delivered each day by vans from the JCC.

The Purim Gift Baskets were a nice surprise for the participants, and they were very grateful for the treats. In addition to the food, the visits from the delivery person is sometimes the seniors’ only human contact during the day. The gifts gave them an extra boost and let them know they are not forgotten.

Money for the gift baskets was donated by a generous anonymous donor to the Senior Adult Department and will also be used to send gift baskets home during the High Holidays.
