Poolside Shabbat Moves Inside until the Weather Clears

When YAD planned a poolside Shabbat at the Jewish Community Center for August 8, everyone hoped for good weather, but it when the weather didn’t cooperate, it wasn’t a problem. The 70 or so people who came to the event just moved inside the JCC for the first part of the evening.

Rabbi Michael Wolk of Keneseth Israel led a short, family-friendly, participatory Kabbalat Shabbat service. Bekie Admony lit the candles and Ronen Danino made kiddush and led hamotzi.

After dinner, the children enjoyed jumping in a bouncy house and playing games using the Sports Wall under the guidance of JCC Personal Trainer Sylvester Davis. When the rain stopped, there was still time for people to swim in the outdoor family and baby pools.

Bekie Admony, Faina Kaplan, Charisse Levine and Carol Levitch planned the event with assistance from YAD Co-Chair Keren Benabou.
