NCJW Mah-Jongg Mania Drew 56 Participants to FUNdraiser

[by Sue Paul]

The Louisville Section of National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) hosted its first annual Mah-Jongg Mania FUNdraiser on Sunday, December 4, at Temple Shalom. The event included a wide variety of foods – fruit, cheeses, snacks and baked goods made by NCJW board members – and rousing rounds of the game.

Approximately 56 women came for an afternoon of fun, good company, friendship and friendly competition where everybody had a great time. Many were lucky enough to win one of the 35 door prizes given out throughout the event. It was the perfect way to spend a rainy day.

Players of all skill levels, beginners to experienced, were present. Many had attended the free Mah-Jongg classes taught by NCJW members in September, October and November. Attendees were asked to bring canned goods and nonperishables, which were donated to the Jewish Family and Career Services Food Pantry. Proceeds from the event will allow the Section to give back to the Louisville community.

The chapter thanks Committee Chair Shelly Satton, her committee members, and all the members of the board who baked for making NCJW’s Mah-Jongg Mania a success.
