“We’re excited to announce that a film is being made here in Kentucky,” said Associate Producer Laura Morton, “and it just so happens that the JCC offers the perfect setting as the ‘home base’ for our story.”
Tan Lines, written by Louisville’s own James Markert, is an exciting project that will be directed by Tim Kirkman and produced by Gill Holland. The company will be filming June 2-17. In addition to a number of familiar faces from television and film, this movie will include some great local actors.
James Markert is best known for his heartbreaking novel, The Requiem Rose, winner of the Independent Publishers Book Award.
Tim Kirkman was the director and screenwriter for the documentary, Dear Jesse, which was released by Cowboy Booking and garnered him both Emmy and Spirit Award nominations. His film, Loggerheads, was the 2005 Sundance competition selection, and Loggerheads was distributed internationally by Strand Releasing.
Gill Holland is a Spirit Award Nominee for Producer of the Year. He has produced more than 60 movies, many of which have won awards and have been distributed internationally. His film, Hurricane Streets, was the first film ever to win three prizes at the Sundance Film Festival.
“We have strong Kentucky crew members, joined by talented folks from Arkansas, Texas, California, New York and Pennsylvania,” Morton continued. “It’s going to be a lot of fun and a memorable experience for all. We cannot express our thanks enough to the members, guests and staff of the JCC.”
