Masa Israel has announced that Israel Teaching Fellows (http://cl.s4.exct.net/?qs=4e52ccfec9a8626eed79bbcb38683af7d2cb2b614073e1e3c7a41e94e78f69fe) is now accepting application for its second cohort.
Due to the success of this year’s cohort of Israel Teaching Fellows, the Ministry of Education has decided to open the fellowship to 200 participants for 2012-13. This elite fellowship places outstanding college graduates in Israel’s underserved communities to teach English as part of a 10-month service learning program.
Israel Teaching Fellows is heavily subsidized by Israel’s Ministry of Education and Masa Israel, making the total cost to participants only $1,000, including flight, housing, medical insurance and a monthly stipend designed to cover food expenses.
Teaching Fellow Danielle Longo said, “I never imagined that my first trip to Israel would be this fulfilling. Not only has Israel Teaching Fellows given me the chance to develop my career and personal goals, but I have had also had the opportunity to explore this beautiful country, meet people from all over the world and make a real difference.
“Each day,” she continued, “my students greet me with hugs, smiles and questions about life in the States. Their gratitude is fully reciprocated; thousands of miles from the U.S., I feel at home.”
Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until the program fills up.
