At Maccabi Games, even losing can be fun

(Editor’s note: Jewish Louisville’s teen athletes are in Birmingham, Alabama, for the JCC Maccabi Games from July 30 to August 4. Louisville sent 11 teens — all boys — to compete in baseball, football and soccer. J Teen Director Kari Semel will be sending back updates from the week-long event.)

Day 3 at the Maccabi Games has been awesome!
Tuesday afternoon, our basketball team suffered a loss, while our flag football, baseball, and soccer players won their games. In the evening, we had a lot of fun at the JCC for a pool party and enjoyed relaxing with our host families.
Wednesday morning, our athletes competed in their final games before advancing to the medal rounds. Our flag football and basketball teams lost their games, but they had fun (and an ice cream cake). Congratulations to Eli and Ben for advancing to the medal rounds with their soccer and baseball mixed teams. Tonight, our athletes will attend the Bayer Block Party, complete with food trucks and an all-access pass to the McWayne Science Center.
Look out for more updates tomorrow!
